Call for Papers JConf Dominicana 2026

We are looking for you as a speaker in 2026!

The first conference organized by the Dominican Republic Java community was held in Santiago de los Caballeros on Saturday, June 26, 2019 and featured local and international speakers, Java community leaders and Java Champions, who provided us with technical sessions throughout the day.

JConf Dominicana will be held on July 17-18, 2026 in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
The workshops will be held on Friday, July 17, and the talks and keynotes on July 18, 2026.

Speak at JConf Dominicana 2026!

The Java community of the Dominican Republic is pleased to invite all the people interested in sharing knowledge with talks and workshops at different levels: basic, intermediate and advanced.

This is your opportunity to participate in this fantastic event organized by the community for the community.

Do you have an idea for a talk that can teach and inspire the Java community in the Dominican Republic? Any innovations made with Java? Do you want to tell us how you or your organization uses Java technologies? You could be one of our speakers.

We accept submissions for:

  • 50-minute standard conference sessions (please keep in mind that those 50 minutes include Q&A)
  • 4-hour hands-on workshops (the speaker determines the number and length of breaks).

We are accepting submissions on the following topics:

Java Platform

Any topic related to JVM as a development platform including, GraalVM, Java Core, Certifications, JVM internals, OpenJDK.

Alternative languages

Considering the Java Virtual Machine as a polyglot execution environment, this space is specially designed for presentations related with GraalVM, Scala, Kotlin, Groovy, JavaScript and beyond.

Server side development

Jakarta EE, Spring, Quarkus, Akka, Spark, Kafka, MicroProfile, RxJava, RabbitMQ, etc. All Java frameworks, libraries and standards are welcome.

Client side development

Interested in client-side development? All presentations related to JavaFX, HTML5+CSS+JS, htmx, Vaadin, JSF, UI/UX, go here.

Security and DevSecOps

Security in Java applications (OWASP for Java), secure configuration in Spring Boot, Jakarta EE, and Quarkus, integrating security into the CI/CD pipeline, strategies for handling vulnerabilities, encryption, authentication, and authorization: JWT, OAuth2, OpenID Connect.

Observability and Monitoring

Observability in Java applications: metrics, tracing, and logging with tools like Micrometer, Prometheus, and Grafana. Integration with platforms such as Datadog, Splunk, and Elastic APM.

Cloud and Containers

Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, multi-cloud architectures, deployment strategies. Use of cloud-native frameworks such as Spring Cloud and Micronaut, etc. Patterns for serverless Java applications with AWS Lambda or Google Cloud Functions.

Databases

Latest database features, including multitenancy, replication strategies, backup and recovery solutions. Data management in distributed systems. Exploration of tools and techniques for database optimization, indexing, and query performance tuning. Real-world use cases for sharding and scaling in Java-based applications.

Java based development for small devices

SmartCards, Java Embedded, IoT, Java Me, Java TV, Android, Arduino, Rasberry Pi, etc.

Big Data with Java

All topics related to Spark, Hadoop, Kafka and any other tool that processes data on any JVM.

Tools, architecture and strategies

This section includes all technologies and strategies to improve Java code quality. IDEs, CI/CD, DevOps, Docker, Kubernets, Blockchain, Hyperledger, and any other buzzword.

Startups with Java

This space will present success stories, academic papers, market trends and startups that implement Java as their main platform.

Emerging trends

Machine Learning with Java, AI, Natural Language Processing (NLP), etc.

Soft skills, Software development leadership, Development Methodologies, etc.

Although the main topics of the conference are related to Java technologies and the JVM, you can also send proposals on soft skills, development methodologies, management or leadership of development teams, Staff+ in software engineering, process management, among others.

We are interested in practical applicability: The content is important from a practical point of view and where you not only cover existing problems/solutions but also share your experience. We want to show content to conference participants that is useful, today and in the future.

What you get as a speaker

  • Conference Pass : All accepted speakers receive a conference pass for JConf Dominicana 2026, which includes access to the workshop day on July 17th. The pass is not transferable.
  • Speaker Dinner: All speakers are invited and encouraged to attend a Speaker Dinner. This special event offers an excellent opportunity to network and meet with your peers from around the globe. Don't miss it!
  • Social Media Visibility: We also increase your visibility as we publish your bio in our social channels
  • Conference Swag: All accepted speakers receive a cool conference swag.

Expenses coverage

JConf Dominicana is a non-profit event organized by the Dominican Republic Java User Group (Aka Java Dominicano) and its members who kindly collaborate in the organization.

As this is a community event, our budget is very limited and we are unable to offer travel support.

Will you require travel support to be able to attend? If your employer or another program can cover the costs, please explore those options.
